Divock Origi remains firmly focused on his current club, Lille, despite the looming future with Liverpool. Ahead of Lille’s Europa League clash against Everton — Romelu Lukaku’s team at the time — Origi was candid in an interview with UEFA, making it clear that his mind isn’t yet on Anfield:
“For the moment, I’m only thinking about Lille, not Liverpool,” said the young Belgian striker of Kenyan origin.
Though signed by Liverpool during the summer transfer window, Origi was loaned back to LOSC for further development — and the match against Everton provided a preview of what was to come in the Premier League.
He also spoke warmly about his Belgian national teammates, especially Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku, both of whom were playing in England:
“Kevin is a good person who gives me a lot of advice about football in England. Romelu, I admit I watch him. I admire what he has done in England so far.”
This encounter was more than just a Europa League fixture — it was a glimpse into Origi’s future, as he measured himself against Premier League competition and leaned on the mentorship of his international colleagues.
