Lille’s Sofiane Boufal Expresses Frustration Over Goal Drought
Lille’s poor start to the 2015–2016 Ligue 1 campaign has left players and fans alike frustrated, with Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal voicing his disappointment after the club failed to score in their opening three matches.
Under new manager Hervé Renard, Lille have registered two draws and a defeat, and their lack of attacking efficiency is already raising concerns. Despite showing technical brilliance, Boufal and his teammates have struggled to convert chances into goals.
“There’s a lot of frustration,” Boufal admitted in an interview with BeIN Sports. “We’ve created many chances but haven’t been able to capitalize. We need to be more clinical, more decisive. That’s what we’ve been lacking since the start of the season.”
Boufal, known for his flair and creativity, has yet to deliver in the final third. Manager Hervé Renard, the former Ivory Coast national team coach, has not shied away from highlighting this issue, urging the playmaker to pair his technical abilities with greater efficiency in front of goal.
With pressure mounting early in the season, Lille will be hoping for a swift turnaround as they look to climb the table and ignite their attacking spark.
