Lille eye move for Senegal goalkeeper Mory Diaw

Senegal international Mory Diaw has emerged as a key transfer target for Lille as the club seeks to strengthen their squad ahead of the Champions League campaign.

The 33-year-old shot-stopper, who plies his trade for Le Havre has attracted significant interest following an outstanding campaign last term, making 30 appearances in France’s top flight, keeping seven clean sheets and conceding 41 goals.

Diaw is said to be the preferred option for the Dogues’ hierarchy due to his experience, reliability and knowledge of Ligue 1.

Despite facing competition from fellow goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi for the starting role at Le Havre, Diaw has remained an important figure for the club. However, a potential move to Lille could offer him a new challenge and the chance to compete at the highest level of European football.

Diaw’s current contract with Le Havre runs until 2027, meaning Lille may need to negotiate a transfer fee to secure his services. But the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League could prove a major attraction for the goalkeeper, especially after Lille secured a third-place finish in the 2025-26 Ligue 1 season to book their place among Europe’s elite.

The move would represent another significant chapter in Diaw’s career. A graduate of the Paris Saint-Germain academy, the goalkeeper spent several years abroad before returning to France four years ago. His journey has included spells across Europe, helping him build valuable experience at club level.

Internationally, Diaw has also established himself within the Senegal national team setup, earning nine caps for the Teranga Lions. His leadership, composure and performances in Ligue 1 have now attracted interest from Lille, who view him as a valuable addition as they prepare for the demands of domestic and European competition.
