Hatem Ben Arfa Released From Contract, Becomes Free Agent
Hatem Ben Arfa is officially a free agent after the Professional Football League’s (LFP) legal committee annulled his eighteen-month contract with OGC Nice, signed earlier this January.
Despite training with his teammates this morning, the French midfielder’s contractual ties with Nice have been dissolved. This decision ends a prolonged legal dispute surrounding his transfer, which had also involved his previous club, Lille.
Ben Arfa is now free to sign with a new club, potentially abroad, where football authorities such as the English Football Association (FA)—which regards Under-21 matches as unofficial—may recognize his eligibility.
While this marks a fresh start for the former Newcastle player, his immediate future remains uncertain amid ongoing challenges.
