Bamba Dieng strikes again as Lorient take lead against Lens

Bamba Dieng scored his seventh league goal of the season to hand FC Lorient an early advantage against RC Lens during their Ligue 1 meeting on Saturday.

The Senegal forward struck in the 18th minute of the matchday 26 encounter, finishing from close range after reacting quickest inside the penalty area. His effort ensured Lorient carried a 1–0 lead into the break.

The opening goal came from a corner delivered from the left side. Defender Montassar Talbi rose to meet the ball and headed it into a dangerous area in front of goal.

Dieng attempted a first-time right-footed shot, but the effort was blocked by Lens goalkeeper Risser.

However, the striker reacted immediately to the rebound. Staying alert inside the six-yard box, Dieng followed up his initial effort and guided the ball into the net with his second attempt to give the home side the lead.

The goal underlined the influence the Senegal international has had in Lorient’s attack this season. His latest strike means he now has seven goals and one assist in 14 appearances in Ligue 1.

Across all competitions, the forward has recorded 13 goals and one assist in 18 matches, figures that highlight his growing importance within the squad.

Dieng’s performances have made him a consistent presence in Lorient’s attacking play. The striker has repeatedly provided decisive moments, and his ability to capitalise on opportunities in front of goal has proved valuable for the team.

Saturday’s breakthrough against Lens offered further evidence of his impact, as Lorient once again relied on the Senegalese forward to deliver in a crucial moment.

With his steady scoring record continuing, Dieng is increasingly establishing himself as one of Lorient’s most influential players during the current campaign.
