After a challenging previous season marked by a significant cruciate ligament injury, defender Alassane Touré is steadily recovering and rejoining the Lens team with renewed confidence.
In an interview with his club’s website, the Franco-Guinean player openly discussed the difficulties he faced in recovering from his injury. “Personally, I had a lot of trouble finding all my sensations at the start of the season… Today, I’m not claiming everything is perfect, but things are somewhat better. I’ve been told that after a seven-month injury like mine, it takes that long to fully come back,” Touré shared. Despite the competition within the Sang et Or, Touré acknowledges the time constraints but is committed to gradually returning to his peak form. “I don’t pay much attention to my current status. I’m more focused on getting back to my best level. I had a seven-month injury, and it was very complicated. I’m trying to play as many matches as possible. In one month, I played more than last season.”
Beyond his personal journey, Alassane Touré expresses a strong desire for his club to have a better season than the previous one, aiming for title contention or even promotion to a higher division. “There are big teams like Monaco, Dijon… I think we’re not expected to perform, and that’s good, I want to say. It’s up to us to ensure that Lens regains its former glory. Even though matching the achievements of the past might be almost impossible, our primary goal is to return to Ligue 1. We first want to have a strong start to the season, and then we’ll see what happens next,” he analyzes.
While emphasizing the importance of team spirit, Touré also recognizes the individual aspect of player development. “For now, I want to play a series of matches without getting injured. I aim to have a good start to the season. Things will fall into place naturally, but I’m more focused on replicating my performances. As a footballer, things can change rapidly in both directions. When I was injured, it wasn’t easy every day. So now, I try not to worry too much and enjoy the moment!”
