Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro was clearly frustrated after Toulouse’s 1-1 draw against Metz on Matchday 34 of Ligue 1. The Ivorian defender highlighted how his team gave their all in the first half but seemed to lose momentum in the second.
“We gave a lot in the first half, spent a lot of energy, but then we just kept going backwards,” Akpa-Akpro said during his post-match interview on beIN SPORTS. Despite Toulouse‘s lead, they allowed a set-piece goal towards the end, which ultimately led to the draw.
Reflecting on the result, he added, “We cracked on a set piece, we didn’t hold the marking. It’s a shame… we were leading, we conceded at the end.” However, he tried to stay positive, acknowledging that the team is making progress: “Before, we couldn’t take a point because we didn’t win, now we take a small point, that’s the main thing, we’re moving forward little by little.”
While it wasn’t the victory they hoped for, Toulouse is still pushing forward, trying to make strides in the relegation battle.
