Ivorian international Salomon Kalou has been voted the best player in Ligue 1 after an impressive performance, scoring 7 goals in 6 matches. The Lille player secured 51% of the votes, surpassing Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda (32%) and Lorient striker Jeremie Aliadière (17%). Kalou is set to receive his trophy during the Lille-Saint-Etienne match on May 26. Lille is currently in contention for a 3rd place finish in Ligue 1, which would mean qualification for the Champions League play-offs in the next season.
