Rachid Ghezzal has emerged as one of the standout players for Lyon this season, earning recognition as the team’s most impressive player. At just 20 years old, the Algerian midfielder has benefited from the club’s rejuvenation policy and has been actively contributing to the Lyon collective.
Reflecting on his progress, Ghezzal stated, “Since the training camp in Tignes, I have given myself all the means to be part of the group. I’m lucky to have some playing time.” In the initial matches, he admitted to being a bit reserved, focusing primarily on defensive duties. However, he emphasized that the coach encourages him to express himself more, utilize his strengths in shooting and provoking, and work on being more assertive.
Ghezzal acknowledged his ongoing development, saying, “Each time, I was told that it wasn’t so bad but that I was missing the little trigger. I hope to do even more, especially score my first goal!” He highlighted the added responsibility that comes with being the team’s only left winger and expressed his determination not to disappoint in this role.
