Mario Lemina, who joined Marseille from Lorient last summer, will face his former club when Lorient hosts Olympique de Marseille on Saturday afternoon. Despite his connection to Lorient, Lemina is focused on securing a victory for Marseille, treating this match like any other.
“It’s a match to win, like all matches for OM. Lorient is a bit like my favorite team, so it will be a special feeling, but I have to approach it like any other match,” Lemina explained to La Provence. “We had two good matches against Bastia and Saint-Étienne. I hope we can replicate those performances,” he added.
Initially overlooked by coach Eli Baup earlier in the season, Lemina has found more playing time under José Anigo, especially with Alaixys Romao suspended. Lemina will face not only his former teammates but also his former coach, Christian Gourcuff, whom he credits for his development.
