Olympique de Marseille has officially welcomed Brice Dja Djédjé from Evian-Thonon-Gaillard. Freshly arrived, the right-back is set to join José Anigo’s squad for the upcoming clash against Toulouse on Sunday, marking his debut in Ligue 1’s 23rd round. Following his second training session with OM, the former ETG defender was introduced to the press at La Commanderie, where he shared his initial thoughts on joining the club.
Expressing his desire for a move away from Evian, Dja Djédjé revealed the allure of OM and the significance it holds for him as an Ivorian. “Marseille represents a lot for me as an Ivorian, with great players from my country like Drogba, Koné, or Bakayoko having graced its colors. OM is also the first French club to clinch the Champions League. It resonates with everyone,” he articulated. Despite his initial lack of affinity for OM during his upbringing in Paris, Dja Djédjé expressed his delight in now being part of such a prestigious club.
While acknowledging the pressure associated with playing for OM, Dja Djédjé remains focused on contributing positively to the team. “I anticipate a certain level of pressure, which is to be expected in clubs of this stature. While I recognize the current defensive challenges, I refrain from making hasty judgments. Instead, I’m receptive to feedback, and above all, I’m eager to make my mark on the field as soon as possible,” he asserted, displaying his readiness to embrace the challenges that lie ahead on the renowned Canebière.
