With Marseille needing to sell players to balance their books by the end of June, Payet could be sacrificed to alleviate the club’s financial woes. According to L’Equipe, Marseille would entertain offers for the 27-year-old winger if a suitable bid were to come in.
This development comes as a surprise, given Payet’s previous statements expressing his desire to stay at Marseille long-term. However, his underwhelming performances this season seem to have changed the club’s stance on his future.
