Francis Massampu is rekindling his connection with the world of football after a hiatus caused by a injury sustained last season. The Valenciennes striker underwent cruciate ligament surgery after a knee injury, which kept him sidelined.

Now, his physical challenges are behind him, and it’s time for Massampu to return to the field. Although the 22-year-old hasn’t yet rejoined the Valenciennes first team, he is gradually regaining playing time with the reserve team of the northern club.

In an interview on the official VAFC website, Massampu discusses his current physical condition and reflects on the extended period of unavailability he faced following his serious injury. Despite enduring a challenging time, including two consecutive knee injuries and surgeries, Massampu remained resilient.

“During my period of unavailability, I refrained from lamenting,” he shared. “I injured myself twice consecutively… I simply told myself that this couldn’t happen to me a third time in a row and that once I recovered, I would come back twice as strong.”

Having scored with the reserve team in the previous weekend, the number 22 for the northern club sees it as a positive sign. He believes in his fortunate turn of events. Massampu’s goal has lifted his spirits, and he aims to gradually play full matches with the reserve team before seeking a place in the professional squad. Despite initial concerns about his physical readiness, he feels positive about his progress, acknowledging the hard work put in during his recovery.
