After a victorious weekend, LOSC once again missed out on securing points for the Ligue 1 podium in their match away to Evian Thonon Gaillard (2-2) this Sunday. The Northerners owe their thanks to Ryan Mendes for securing an equalizer in stoppage time. The Cape Verdean player appears to be finding his form again.
Evian Thonon Gaillard took the lead in the 15th minute through Kevin Berigaud. Despite Lille’s efforts, it was the Belgian of Kenyan origin, Divock Origi, who managed to equalize, continuing his scoring streak from the previous weekend. However, in the second half, Evian regained the lead with a penalty converted by the Congolese player, Cédric Mongongu.
It wasn’t until the 93rd minute of stoppage time that Lille managed to salvage a point, thanks to Mendes’ goal. Despite this result, Lille is assured of maintaining their position on the podium following the outcome of the Saint-Etienne vs. Marseille clash.
