Ligue 1 Matchday 14: Metz Ready for PSG Test, Says Midfielder Ahmed Kashi
Newly-promoted FC Metz will face a daunting challenge this Friday night as they welcome Paris Saint-Germain to the Stade Saint-Symphorien in the opening match of Ligue 1’s 14th round. But midfielder Ahmed Kashi, who plays a pivotal role in Metz’s engine room, insists the home side is motivated and not overawed by the Parisian giants.
In an interview with Le Républicain Lorrain, the French-Algerian midfielder acknowledged PSG’s strength, particularly in midfield:
“There’s a lot in midfield with Motta, Verratti, Matuidi… Our team unit will be crucial to counter them. We’ll need to be aggressive, stick together, play our football and above all, not be afraid.”
Kashi emphasized that Metz won’t just sit back defensively, despite PSG’s expected domination in possession.
“Offensively, we have to try. Even if we don’t have the ball much, we must stay enterprising. This PSG team plays very well—they link up quickly, get between the lines, and impose their style. But there might be a few absentees on their side.”
While a Metz win would undoubtedly be a major upset, Kashi was realistic about how such a result would be perceived by the media.
“If we win, they’ll talk about PSG’s missteps, not about Metz. But that’s part of the game.”
With PSG potentially missing key players and Metz looking to make a statement in front of their home fans, Friday night promises a gripping encounter between ambition and experience.
