LIGUE 1-GUINGAMP/DIALLO: “DO THE MAXIMUM TO ACHIEVE MAINTENANCE”
For the 29th day of Ligue 1, En Avant Guingamp will face a crucial match as they travel to the Stade François Coty to take on Ajaccio. While this might not be the most anticipated match of the weekend in France, it holds significant importance for Guingamp in their quest to secure their position in the league.
Currently sitting seven points clear of the relegation zone, Guingamp enjoys a relatively comfortable cushion to avoid relegation. However, they recognize the importance of securing additional points, especially against teams also fighting to maintain their position. Coach Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side understands that a victory against Ajaccio is essential.
“We’re in a better position than Ajaccio or Valenciennes. It’s better to be ahead than behind. So it’s crucial for us to stay focused and give our best to secure our position,” explains Guingamp midfielder Moustapha Diallo.
While Ajaccio may not have much left to lose, they are expected to put up a strong fight against the inconsistent Breton side. “Ajaccio has shown improvement. They don’t give up easily. They had a close draw against Nantes. However, we also need points, so we won’t take this match lightly. We’ll approach every game with full determination,” added the Senegalese midfielder.
