Following FC Nantes’ recent conviction by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in the Bangoura case, the club has been handed a significant setback: a ban on recruiting during the next two transfer windows.
While the departures of key players such as Filip Djordjevic, Adrien Trébel, and Fabrice Pancrate are expected next summer, the future of Senegalese defender Papy Djilobodji remains uncertain.
Despite being courted by several prestigious clubs due to his stellar performance in Ligue 1 this season, Djilobodji seemed destined to leave FC Nantes in June. However, club president Waldemar Kita made it unequivocally clear this Saturday that the defender will not be departing.
“He’s not going to leave, that’s clear. There is a good group. It’s up to them to work and go further,” Kita asserted in an interview with Ouest France. This declaration comes as a blow to Marseille, who had been facing challenges negotiating Djilobodji’s recruitment even before the ban was imposed on Nantes.
