Lorient put up a determined performance in the second half of the match against Monaco on the 5th day of Ligue 1. However, the game was effectively decided in the first half with the only goal scored by Radamel Falcao. The Uruguayan converted a penalty in the 6th minute.
Despite Lorient repeatedly testing the defense led by captain Eric Abidal, they couldn’t find the net. Diallo did manage to score, but the goal was rightly disallowed for offside in the 26th minute.
With this narrow victory, Monaco maintains its position at the top of the league.
