Bordeaux will face Sochaux at the Bonal stadium this Saturday for the 27th round of Ligue 1. The Girondins aim to continue their recent success against a Sochaux side battling to avoid relegation. Securing a victory is crucial for Bordeaux to keep their European aspirations alive.
Following their 3-2 win against Lorient earlier in the week, Bordeaux reasserted themselves in the race for European qualification. However, their away performances have been inconsistent, posing a challenge for their European ambitions.
“We’ve acknowledged that we haven’t been picking up enough points in the second half of the season. The match against Saint-Etienne was a turning point for us,” admitted Maxime Poundjé on the club’s website. Looking ahead to the clash with Sochaux, the Bordeaux defender emphasized the challenge they expect to face.
“We anticipate a tough encounter. Sochaux is fighting to avoid relegation, so they’ll be determined to get points. Every match for them is crucial, and they’ll fight relentlessly. It won’t be an easy game for us, but we have our own objectives and points to secure,” Poundjé explained.
To overcome Sochaux, Poundjé believes Bordeaux must maintain the same mindset they displayed against Lorient. “We need to maintain our desire to attack and create opportunities. Pressuring our opponents and maintaining a high level of intensity will be key,” he concluded.
