LIGA/KONDOGBIA: “I HAD THE FEELING THAT WE HAD TO TAKE THE PLUNGE”
Geoffrey Kondogbia, trained at RC Lens, has become a standout player for Sevilla FC, making him a fan favorite at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. The 20-year-old midfielder left RC Lens for Sevilla last summer and has had a remarkable season in Spain. In an interview, Kondogbia reflects on the differences between Spanish and French football.
He acknowledges the faster pace and emphasizes the technical aspect of Spanish football. Kondogbia notes that while France also has technical players, in Spain, players are encouraged to utilize their technical abilities more. He initially found certain aspects, especially pressing high up the field, challenging to understand.
Regarding his move to Spain, Kondogbia states that it was a planned decision. He believed in his capabilities but acknowledged that adapting to a new country and playing style would be difficult initially. The midfielder mentions that Ligue 1 clubs weren’t initially interested in him, making the transition even more challenging.
