Adil Rami and his Valencia team faced a challenging day during the 16th round of the Spanish championship. Valencia was defeated 1-0 at home against Rayo Vallecano, and in addition to the loss, the French international had to leave the game prematurely due to an injury to the back of his right thigh. As a result of this defeat, Valencia dropped to 11th place in the La Liga standings with 21 points.
