The Libyan Football Federation has made a significant decision concerning Sudanese and Palestinian players, declaring them eligible as citizens in light of the challenging political circumstances facing their respective countries.
In an official announcement on their Facebook page, the Libyan Football Federation shared a resolution regarding the registration and participation of players from Sudan and Palestine for the 2023-2024 sports season.
The federation announced that every Libyan club is permitted to submit and register players of both Sudanese and Palestinian nationalities as part of the squad for the 2023-2024 sports season.
This decision is a response to the difficult situations these countries are undergoing, with sports competitions being hindered, and a number of players from these nations migrating away from their homelands.
According to the decision, general league competitions at various levels in Libya are allowed to register players with Sudanese nationality and players with Palestinian nationality for each club.
Moreover, youth competitions are granted permission to register one player from each of the Sudanese and Palestinian nationalities.
The federation affirmed that Sudanese and Palestinian players will be treated on par with Libyan players based on this resolution.
This move reflects the football governing body’s acknowledgment of the unique challenges faced by these players amid the current geopolitical climate.
