Libyan football club Al-Ahli Tripoli has entered serious negotiations to secure the signing of Nigerian striker John Ibuoka from Egypt’s Ceramica Cleopatra during the ongoing winter transfer window.
A source close to the player informed BBC Sport, “Negotiations between the two parties are still ongoing, and the Libyan offer is genuine.”
“The club is keen on bringing back their former striker, especially after his impressive performances during his loan spell,” the source added.
Although the deal has not been officially completed yet, there is a convergence of views that may expedite the resolution of matters in the coming hours.
John Ibuoka had previously joined Al-Ahli Tripoli in January of last year on a loan deal before returning to Ceramica Cleopatra in the summer of 2023.
During the current season, Ibuoka has played only nine matches, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
Al-Ahli Tripoli is determined to strengthen its squad during the winter transfer window, and the pursuit of John Ibuoka signals their commitment to bolstering their attacking options.
The negotiations mark an ongoing effort by Al-Ahli Tripoli to reinforce its squad for upcoming competitions.
The potential return of Ibuoka, who previously showcased his talent with the club, adds an extra layer of anticipation for the Libyan team and its supporters.
As the talks continue, football enthusiasts are eager to see how this potential transfer will unfold and impact Al-Ahli Tripoli’s performance in the upcoming matches.
