Libya defender Ali Youssif makes Al-Ittihad switch from FC Nantes

Libya centre-back Ali Youssif is the latest arrival at Al-Ittihad, joining the Libyan Premier League club from FC Nantes. The 25-year-old completed the move on 20 August 2026, beginning a new chapter in his home country’s top division.

Youssif arrives as a right-footed central defender and joins Al-Ittihad after his time with Nantes, who compete in France’s Ligue 2. His move takes him from French second-tier football into the Libyan Premier League, with the defender now part of Al-Ittihad’s squad.

Born in Benghazi on 9 July 2001, Youssif stands 1.88m tall and represents Libya. His height and central defensive role form the clearest outline of the player Al-Ittihad have added, while his preferred right foot provides further detail about his position.

The transfer follows a season in which Youssif was associated with Club Africain’s Tunisian Championship success. The Tunisian Champion honour is the first listed achievement of his career, with Club Africain winning the title in the 2025-26 season.

Youssif’s arrival also marks a return to Libyan club football with Al-Ittihad SC, whose identity is closely tied to the country where the defender was born. The club competes in the Libyan Premier League, placing him in a domestic competition after his spell in France.

The defender’s current market value is listed at €2.5m, although no transfer fee has been announced for the move. Al-Ittihad have secured Youssif’s services, with the switch recorded as completed on 20 August.

Youssif now begins his Al-Ittihad career as a Libyan international defender with experience of football in both France and Tunisia. His latest club is the fourth distinct competition context highlighted by his career record, following his links with Nantes, Club Africain and the Libyan Premier League.

The completed move takes Ali Youssif from FC Nantes to Al-Ittihad.
