Liberia and Gambia meet with Morocco 2027 place at stake

Liberia and Gambia will meet in the semi-finals of the UFOA-A U17 qualifying tournament on Thursday, 17 September 2026, with the winner securing a place at the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The match will be played at Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar, kicking off at 19:00 GMT. Victory would also send either side through to the final of the regional competition.

Liberia head into the tie unbeaten in Group B. The Young Lone Stars drew with Mali before recording a 2-1 victory over Guinea, results which have strengthened their hopes of reaching the U17 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time.

They face a Gambia side that finished second in Group A after drawing 0-0 with Senegal. The Baby Scorpions will draw on their experience in youth competitions as they attempt to reach the final and claim a place at the 2027 tournament in Morocco.

The winners of the semi-final will qualify directly for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, in addition to competing for the UFOA-A U17 title.
