**Liassine Cadamuro on Trial at Standard Liège Amid Defensive Woes**
Standard Liège are considering bolstering their struggling defence with the addition of Algerian international Liassine Cadamuro. The 27-year-old Franco-Algerian defender, currently a free agent after leaving Osasuna, is undergoing a trial period with the Belgian top-flight side.
Cadamuro, who has previously played for Real Sociedad and Osasuna in Spain, will hope to impress Rouches coach Yannick Ferreira and earn a permanent deal.
“We will also be testing the 27-year-old Franco-Algerian defender Liassine Cadamuro-Bentaïba, who has played for Real Sociedad and Osasuna, for several weeks. But we don’t think he’s a player who can make a difference in the current situation,” Ferreira said, acknowledging the challenges the team faces.
Standard Liège have endured a difficult start to the season, currently sitting at the bottom of the Belgian league table. Defensive frailties, compounded by injuries and poor form, have left the club searching for reinforcements in the backline.
Cadamuro’s trial comes as the club aims to address these defensive issues. If successful, his experience in La Liga could provide much-needed stability and leadership to a beleaguered Standard defence.
The Liège club and its supporters will be watching closely as the trial unfolds, hoping for a positive impact that could help turn around a disappointing campaign.
