Sabadell midfielder Kwadri Liamide was taken to hospital after losing consciousness following a heavy challenge during his side’s Segunda Division match against Albacete.
The game was stopped for several minutes shortly before half-time after Liamide went down in the 40th minute when Jose Corpas caught him with a powerful kick to the head. Although the challenge was described as unintentional, it caused shock among those at the ground and led the referee to show the Albacete player a red card.
Liamide initially remained unconscious on the pitch, prompting an urgent response from the medical staff. He received treatment before regaining consciousness and was taken away by ambulance for further examinations and monitoring.
Sabadell later said the midfielder was under medical observation and that the initial tests had produced positive results. The club did not provide further details about his condition.
On the pitch, Sabadell faced a difficult task after falling two goals behind. Eneko Aguilar reduced the deficit in the 81st minute, giving the visitors hope of completing a comeback during the closing stages.
Sabadell created opportunities to draw level, but Albacete’s goalkeeper kept out their attempts and preserved his team’s advantage until the final whistle.
