Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has played down speculation linking Cole Palmer with a move away from Stamford Bridge, insisting the England international is content at the club and available for selection ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Napoli.
Recent reports have suggested the 23-year-old is unsettled in west London and keen on a return to Manchester, with both Manchester City and Manchester United mentioned as potential destinations.
Rosenior, however, described the claims as baseless and unnecessary, making clear there has been no internal discussion about Palmer’s future.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Chelsea boss laughed off the rumours, stressing that they had emerged without any substance.
“There’s no reason for an assurance,” Rosenior said. “It’s so unrealistic. It’s come from nowhere. There is no need to have the conversation. Cole is happy. You can’t stop speculation, but some speculation is so far from the truth there is no point having a conversation about it.”
Injuries disrupt Palmer’s rhythm
Palmer’s season has been stop-start due to a series of injury setbacks, limiting him to just 12 Premier League appearances so far. Despite those interruptions, he remains one of Chelsea’s most influential attacking players when fit, with his creativity and composure in the final third central to Rosenior’s tactical plans.
The manager’s comments were seen as an attempt to remove distractions ahead of a demanding European fixture, particularly as transfer rumours continue to swirl around several high-profile players across the Premier League.
Napoli boost as Palmer returns
Rosenior also provided a brief but telling update on Palmer’s fitness, confirming the forward is in contention to face Napoli. Asked directly whether the attacker was ready to feature, the Chelsea manager replied simply: “He’s here.”
That response suggests Palmer has overcome his latest fitness concerns and is available for selection, offering Chelsea a timely boost as they prepare for a crucial Champions League encounter.
