Leverkusen and Dortmund eye English-Ghanaian Jarell Quansah amid uncertain Liverpool future
Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah is attracting interest from Bundesliga heavyweights Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund ahead of the summer transfer window.
Quansah, 22, who has made 21 appearances under manager Arne Slot this season—including 10 starts—has seen his playing time limited due to the established centre-back pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté.
Despite these challenges, the England U21 international has demonstrated versatility, notably stepping in as an emergency right-back during the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.
Born in England to Ghanaian heritage, Quansah is eligible to represent both nations internationally. His performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him a provisional call-up to England’s Euro 2024 squad and a subsequent inclusion in the squad for World Cup qualifiers under manager Thomas Tuchel.
Quansah’s current contract with Liverpool runs until 2029, reflecting the club’s long-term investment in his potential.
However, with Van Dijk reportedly nearing a contract extension, Quansah may seek opportunities elsewhere to secure regular first-team football.
German outlet Fussball Transfers reports that both Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are monitoring Quansah’s situation, considering him a viable addition to bolster their defensive options.
Newcastle United have also been linked with the young defender, indicating a competitive market for his signature.
