Leonel Wamba: Cameroon striker joins Al-Nasr on free transfer from Al-Wahda

Cameroon centre-forward Leonel Wamba has joined Al-Nasr from UAE Pro League rivals Al-Wahda on a free transfer. The 23-year-old has signed a deal with the Dubai club running until 30 June 2029.

Wamba, who stands at 1.85m and plays primarily as a central striker, makes the switch within the UAE after spending last season with Al-Wahda and on loan at FC Baniyas. His move reunites him with the UAE Pro League, where he has already made 34 appearances, scoring five goals across his time in the country.

Born in Foreke Dschang in Cameroon, Wamba first made his name in Europe with Spartaks in Latvia, where he hit 14 goals in 24 league games and finished as the Virsligas top scorer in 2020-21. That form earned him a move to Algerian side CR Belouizdad, where he won the league title in 2022-23 and the Algerian Cup in 2023-24.

During his spell in Algeria, Wamba accumulated significant top-flight and continental experience, featuring in Ligue 1 and the CAF Champions League before moving to the Gulf. He then joined Al-Wahda in August 2024 for a 500,000 fee, ahead of loaning out to Baniyas the following summer.

Wamba arrives at Al-Nasr with more than 140 senior club appearances across domestic leagues, cups and African continental competition, and a current market valuation of 350,000. His permanent move keeps him in the UAE Pro League until the end of the 2028-29 season.
