Antoine Kombouaré Criticizes Lens Fans’ Behavior During Match Against Metz
RC Lens coach Antoine Kombouaré expressed strong disapproval of some fans’ behavior during their recent 2-0 victory over FC Metz last Saturday.
The match was briefly interrupted after some Lens supporters invaded the pitch to protest against the club’s shareholder, Hafiz Mammadov. Kombouaré acknowledged the fans’ frustrations but condemned their actions:
“I understand their disappointment, their discontent, even their anger. That’s normal. But there are things we must never do. We must never enter the pitch. So-called supporters who enter the pitch, it’s three points less for the club and it’s the death of the team. Expressing it, yes. There are two things that can cause the death of a club: one is not having the money, and the second is idiots coming onto the pitch. That’s forbidden.”
Kombouaré made these remarks ahead of Lens’ upcoming trip to Monaco for their Ligue 1 16th round match on Wednesday at 9 p.m.
