Leipzig chief Schafer says Yan Diomande switch to Real Madrid is not done

RB Leipzig have rejected reports that they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of Yan Diomande, insisting the player’s future remains undecided.

Speculation had intensified around an imminent move to the Spanish giants, but Leipzig director Marcel Schafer has moved to clarify the club’s position. He said no deal had been completed between the two clubs and that negotiations had not reached the stage suggested by recent reports.

“The matter is not closed. That is simply not the case. We have not reached that stage yet,” Schafer said.

His comments directly challenge the growing claims that Diomande was close to joining Real Madrid. While the Spanish club’s interest is understood to be genuine, Leipzig’s public stance is that there is currently no agreement in place and that the situation remains open.

The German club’s intervention comes as reports of a possible transfer had gathered pace. Those reports had presented the move as imminent, prompting Leipzig to respond through one of its senior officials.

Schafer’s statement was unequivocal. Rather than confirming that discussions had reached an advanced stage, he insisted that the deal was not done and that the club had not arrived at the point described in the speculation.
