N’Golo Kanté Focused on Leicester Amid National Team Call-Up

N’Golo Kanté is enjoying a breakthrough season with Leicester City, making a significant impact in the English Premier League and quickly becoming one of the most talked-about midfielders in world football. The 25-year-old French midfielder, of Malian descent, has been rewarded for his outstanding performances with a call-up by Didier Deschamps for the next two matches of the French national team. Despite the recognition, Kanté remains grounded, insisting that his primary focus remains on Leicester and their pursuit of a historic league title.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Kanté stated, “I’m focused on Leicester. I don’t think about what people say. I only think about Leicester.” His commitment to the Foxes highlights his professionalism and dedication, emphasizing that personal accolades and international recognition, while flattering, do not distract him from the immediate goals with his club.

Leicester City currently sits atop the Premier League table, a position few predicted at the start of the season. Kanté, who joined from Caen, has been instrumental in Leicester’s success. His tireless work rate, defensive awareness, and ability to anticipate the opposition’s moves have made him a linchpin in the team’s midfield. Despite the euphoria surrounding Leicester’s title challenge, the midfielder is taking a measured approach.

“We don’t know who will win the title. But what we can do is fight every game. That’s the only thing we can do. There are eight games left. We’ll take them one at a time. The whole team is doing a good job and we hope to continue like this,” Kanté explained. His calm and pragmatic approach reflects a player focused on consistency rather than hype, aware that every match from this point onward is crucial.

Kanté’s mindset was evident in Leicester’s recent 1-0 victory against Newcastle. “Against Newcastle, we didn’t play very well. But we won. Taking the three points is the most important thing. I hope we finish well,” he said. The midfielder’s ability to emphasize results over style underscores his maturity and team-first mentality.

His performances this season have drawn attention from clubs across Europe, yet Kanté continues to demonstrate loyalty and professionalism, prioritizing Leicester’s collective objectives over personal gain. For a club that has defied expectations all season, having players like Kanté focused, composed, and determined is invaluable.

As the season approaches its final stretch, the Foxes will need to maintain their form and composure in every fixture. Kanté’s insistence on concentrating solely on Leicester, while balancing international recognition, serves as an example of a player prioritizing team success over individual accolades. If Leicester continues to perform with the same focus and determination, a historic Premier League title may well be within reach—a triumph that Kanté hopes to savor with his teammates before turning attention to the national team.
