Leicester eye move for Wrexham and Nigeria-England goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo

Leicester City are being linked with a move for Wrexham’s Nigeria-England goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo as the Championship side assess options to strengthen their goalkeeping department.

The 24-year-old, born in London and standing at 1.98m, is currently valued at €5.00m on Transfermarkt, with the Foxes reported to be monitoring his situation closely. The move is being reported as speculative, with the probability of a deal listed as “?” and no transfer fee or agreement disclosed.

Okonkwo, who wears the No 1 shirt at Wrexham, has no publicly listed contract expiry date with the Welsh club, fuelling suggestions he could become a free agent if current terms are close to running down or already concluded. That uncertainty has added to the sense that Leicester could attempt to secure a cost-effective deal in the coming window.

The goalkeeper has been a key figure for Wrexham since arriving in north Wales, helping them compete in the Championship after their rapid rise through the divisions. In a recent league outing on 21 June 2026, Wrexham faced Championship opposition in a tight contest, with Okonkwo impressing between the posts in a narrow scoreline that again underlined his reputation as a reliable shot-stopper at this level.

Okonkwo, who can represent both Nigeria and England, is a right-footed goalkeeper and has previously been on the books of higher-tier clubs earlier in his career before settling at Wrexham. His performances have seen his profile grow steadily, with his current market valuation reflecting that upward trajectory.

With Leicester also in the Championship and looking to build a squad capable of promotion, a move to the King Power Stadium would represent a significant step in Okonkwo’s career and could further enhance his standing as one of the more promising goalkeepers outside the Premier League if the transfer speculation becomes reality.
