Leicester City manager Steve Cooper has assured fans that Abdul Fatawu Issahaku will return stronger after suffering a devastating ACL injury during Ghana’s AFCON 2025 qualifier against Angola.
The 20-year-old winger, who has been pivotal for both club and country, is set to spend at least six months recovering.
“We were enjoying being on his journey in the Premier League and he was showing the potential he has. It’s only a pause. We’ll make sure, as difficult as this is for him, that he comes back being a stronger player and person,” Cooper said.
“With the mentality he has, I think that’ll be the case,” he added.
The injury forced Fatawu to leave Ghana’s camp early and return to Leicester City, where he underwent successful surgery. Despite this setback, the young star remains hopeful for a swift recovery.
Fatawu’s absence is a significant loss for Leicester City, where he’s been a key figure since joining from Sporting CP. Fans and teammates alike are rallying behind him, eager to see the talented winger back on the pitch, ready to continue his rise in football.
