Leganes sign Cameroon winger Patrick Soko from Almeria on loan
Cameroon right winger Patrick Soko has joined CD Leganes from UD Almeria on a season-long loan, completing a move between two LaLiga2 clubs. The 28-year-old’s transfer began on 1 August 2026, with the agreement running until 30 June 2027.
Soko arrives at Leganes as an experienced wide attacker with 80 LaLiga2 appearances to his name. He has scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in the competition, adding to his record of 38 appearances, nine goals and four assists in Primera Federacion.
The right-footed winger spent the previous season with Almeria, having joined the club from SD Huesca on a free transfer on 1 July 2025. His switch to Leganes represents his latest move within the Spanish game after spells with Huesca, UD Ibiza and Racing.
Soko joined Huesca from Racing in July 2022, also on a free transfer, before moving to Ibiza on loan during the 2023-24 campaign. He returned to Huesca at the end of that season and later left the club for Almeria.
His career also includes time in Mexico with Mineros de Zacatecas and Atlante, as well as an earlier spell with Atlas. Before moving to Mexico, Soko played for Cibao FC in the Dominican Republic, where he won the Caribbean Club Championship in the 2016-17 season.
Born in Douala, Soko stands 1.81 metres tall and is listed primarily as a right winger. His record across previous competitions includes goals in Mexico’s Liga de Expansion MX, the Copa del Rey and the CONCACAF Caribbean Cup, alongside his league contributions in Spain.
The move gives Leganes an attacking player with experience across Spain’s professional divisions and a contract arrangement that keeps him at the club through the end of the 2026-27 campaign. Soko will return to Almeria when the loan expires on 30 June 2027.
