Leeds United join race for free-agent James Léa Siliki

Leeds United have emerged as the latest club to show interest in signing James Léa Siliki, the Cameroonian midfielder who has been a free agent since July 2024.

Following previous links to Genoa and Kayserispor, the 28-year-old could soon find a new home in England, as Leeds looks to bolster its midfield options.

Léa Siliki, who has not played competitively since his time at Genclerbirligi in Turkey, remains available for a move and is reportedly in discussions with several clubs.

Despite being unable to secure a return to one of Europe’s top leagues during the winter transfer window, he continues to train individually while awaiting the right opportunity to make his comeback.

Leeds United, currently strengthening their squad, have identified the former Rennes and Estoril Praia player as a potential addition. Having previously played in England with Middlesbrough in 2021, Léa Siliki could be poised to make a return to the Championship, where he could reignite his career.

The midfielder, known for his versatility and technical ability, has garnered attention across Europe, but Leeds are said to have gained a competitive advantage in securing his signature.

Talks are reportedly ongoing, and a move is expected to be finalised soon, with Léa Siliki’s market value estimated at €500,000 by Transfermarkt.

As a free agent, Léa Siliki remains free to negotiate and sign with any club, and his potential move to Leeds adds another layer of intrigue to the ongoing transfer saga.

His arrival could provide much-needed depth to the team’s midfield as Leeds prepares for their upcoming matches, including a critical Championship fixture against Sheffield United on matchday 34.

With the transfer window still open, it is anticipated that the 28-year-old will commit to a new club in the near future, marking the next step in his footballing journey.
