Leeds United complete late signing of Jean-Mattéo Bahoya from Eintracht Frankfurt

Leeds United have completed the signing of Jean-Mattéo Bahoya from Eintracht Frankfurt in a late transfer-window deal.

The 21-year-old French attacking player has joined the Premier League club on a one-year loan, with the agreement reportedly including a mandatory €30m purchase clause.

The transfer was finalised after midnight after Leeds requested an official extension to complete the paperwork.

Bahoya now begins a new chapter in England after spending more than two years with Bundesliga side Frankfurt.

€30m deal represents major Frankfurt profit

Bahoya joined Eintracht Frankfurt from French club Angers in January 2024 for a fee of around €8m.

Despite being under contract with the German side until 2029, Frankfurt have agreed to let him leave following what was described as a mixed season.

The reported €30m package from Leeds represents a significant profit for the Bundesliga club.

Frankfurt had reportedly received an offer worth €70m from Saudi Arabia for Bahoya during the previous summer, but the move did not materialise.

They have now accepted the opportunity to sanction his move to England under a deal that could eventually make the transfer permanent.

Premier League opportunity for Bahoya

The move gives Bahoya the chance to test himself in the Premier League at a crucial stage of his career.

At 21, the Frenchman will arrive at Leeds with the opportunity to establish himself in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.

The mandatory purchase clause also suggests that Leeds view the former Angers player as a long-term investment rather than simply a temporary addition.
