In a gesture of respect and solidarity, the players of TP Mazembe will don black armbands during their upcoming Champions League match against El Hilal. This decision comes in the wake of the tragic events at the Tata Raphael stadium in Kinshasa last Sunday. The announcement was made by the club president, Moïse Katumbi, in a statement released on the club’s official website.
Katumbi expressed his condolences, saying, “On behalf of TP Mazembe, I would like to once again extend my deepest sympathies to all the families affected by the tragic events last Sunday. In honor of the victims, our players will wear black armbands during Friday’s match in Sudan as a symbol of our solidarity with V.Club supporters. I sincerely hope that such incidents will never occur again.”
