Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night, courtesy of a goal from Karim Benzema. Despite the defeat, Bayern coach Pep Guardiola congratulated Real Madrid on their performance but remained optimistic about his team’s chances in the second leg.
Guardiola acknowledged Real Madrid’s speed and described them as the best counter-attacking team in the world. He admitted that Bayern had aimed to control the match with possession but lamented their failure to score. However, Guardiola remained determined, stating, “There’s one more match left. We will try to come back. We will attack to try to come back.”
The return leg is scheduled for next Tuesday, where Bayern Munich will seek to overturn the deficit and advance to the final.
