In the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Nkana FC in Zambia, Zamalek managed only a draw (0-0), with goalkeeper Abdelwahed El Sayed being instrumental in keeping a clean sheet. Although the result places Zamalek in a favorable position for the return leg in Egypt, coach Ahmad Hossam “Mido” emphasized the challenges they face, particularly the difficult playing conditions expected in Gouna for the return match.
Mido expressed preference for playing in Cairo or Alexandria due to concerns over the high temperatures and poor pitch conditions in Gouna. Both Zamalek and Al Ahly have officially requested to relocate their matches from the Gouna stadium to venues in Cairo or Alexandria, despite authorization from the authorities.
