After the completion of the round of 16 last weekend, the African Champions League now enters the group stage, featuring eight remaining clubs. North Africa dominates with six teams, following the elimination of defending champions Al Ahly from Egypt.
Abel Séllimi, former international player for the Eagles of Carthage, believes that Tunisian clubs are the frontrunners in this edition. “Mazembe and Zamalek are not as formidable as before. I consider Tunisian clubs as the favorites,” stated the AS Marsa coach during the Attassiâa Sports program. He predicts that the title will be contested between Esperance Sportive de Tunis (EST) and Club Sportif Sfaxien (CSS).
The draw for the group stage is scheduled for April 29.
