LDC-ANDERLECHT: KOUYATÉ DOES NOT EXPECT ANY GIFTS FROM THE PARISIANS

Anderlecht is set to face Paris Saint-Germain in Paris for the 4th day of the Champions League group stage. PSG, currently unbeaten in 30 consecutive matches across all competitions, is chasing the club’s record of 37 consecutive matches without a loss. A victory against the Belgian club tonight could secure PSG’s spot in the round of 16.

With nine points from three matches, PSG is already five points ahead of Benfica and Olympiakos, and they could secure first place in the group if the Portuguese and Greeks draw in their match. On the other hand, Anderlecht has yet to score any points after three days, and after a recent defeat on their home turf, they are aware of the challenges they face at the Parc des Princes.

Despite the tough task ahead, Anderlecht, the reigning Belgian champion, is not approaching the match as resigned victims. Cheikhou Kouyaté, the Senegalese international, expressed the team’s attitude: “You don’t play a match like this every day. But we didn’t come to Paris frozen in fear either. We came here to learn and also to have fun. PSG is a very great team, and we can actually learn a lot during such a confrontation.”

Kouyaté acknowledged the importance of learning from past mistakes and emphasized the team’s determination: “It is now up to us to stop making the same mistakes as last time. I am not expecting absolutely any gifts from the Parisians, but we will nevertheless do everything to bring a good result to Brussels.”
