Lazio targets Moroccan midfielder Reda Belahyane for winter transfer

Reda Belahyane

Italian Serie A club Lazio is reportedly preparing to launch a bid for Moroccan midfielder Reda Belahyane.

The 20-year-old defensive midfielder has become one of the most sought-after young talents in the league, attracting interest from top clubs such as Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Olympique Marseille.

Lazio’s pursuit of Belahyane is reportedly driven by the ambitions of head coach Marco Baroni, who is familiar with the player’s potential, having worked with him during his tenure at Hellas Verona. Baroni is eager to reunite with the Aubervilliers-born midfielder and has urged Lazio’s management to prioritize his signing in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Belahyane has been a standout in Serie A this season, registering two assists in 15 league appearances. Known for his defensive capabilities and composure on the ball, he has quickly established himself as a key player for Hellas Verona.

Under contract with Verona until June 2028, Belahyane is valued at €10 million, according to Transfermarkt. His annual salary currently stands at €280,000 (183,670,000 FCFA), making him an attractive prospect for clubs looking to invest in emerging talent.

Lazio’s interest in the Moroccan international could see them ramp up efforts to outmanoeuvre competition from other European giants.

With Baroni’s personal connection and Belahyane’s rising stock, the January transfer window promises to be pivotal in determining the midfielder’s next destination.
