Lazio eye Franco-Beninese midfielder Arthur Atta ahead of summer move

Lazio are weighing up a summer move for 22-year-old Arthur Atta, currently on loan at Udinese, as the Serie A side looks to reinforce its midfield ahead of the upcoming season.

The Rome-based club has shown growing interest in the Franco-Beninese midfielder following a string of impressive performances in Italy’s top flight this season.

Atta, who is contracted to Ligue 1 side FC Metz, has spent the current campaign on loan at Udinese, where he has steadily built a reputation as one of the most promising young talents in Serie A.

According to information obtained by Africasoccer, Lazio have been tracking Atta’s development closely and are preparing a possible approach during the summer transfer window.

A source close to the player confirmed the interest, stating, “Lazio have been keeping a close eye on Atta for some time and are keen to secure his services in the upcoming summer transfer window.”

Atta’s performances in Udinese colours have not gone unnoticed. Despite playing in a struggling side, the midfielder has stood out for his composure on the ball, vision, and work rate in central areas. His consistent displays have reportedly impressed both Lazio’s scouting team and Udinese’s own technical staff.

Udinese are understood to hold a purchase option as part of the loan agreement with Metz and are seriously considering activating it.

The fee to make the move permanent is believed to be in the region of €8 million—more than three times the player’s current market value of €2.5 million, as listed by Transfermarkt.

Whether the Friulian club will move quickly to secure Atta’s signature permanently remains to be seen. However, with Lazio now firmly in the picture, Udinese may face competition if they do not act decisively.

Lazio’s potential move is believed to be part of a broader recruitment strategy aimed at injecting youth and energy into their midfield, especially with several senior players approaching the final stages of their contracts.

Born in France to Beninese parents, Atta has yet to commit his international future, but his dual heritage has made him a player of interest not only in club football but potentially on the national stage.

His rise has been steady, with formative years at Metz helping him develop the tactical discipline that has served him well in Serie A.

Atta has used his time in Italy to great effect, adapting to the pace and physical demands of the league. His growth has reportedly caught the attention of multiple clubs, but Lazio’s interest appears to be the most advanced at this stage.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Arthur Atta’s next move is likely to be a focal point in both Italian and French football circles.

Whether he stays in Udine, returns to Metz, or makes the leap to the capital with Lazio, his future seems destined for bigger stages.

Lazio’s interest signals a recognition of Atta’s potential and value, and with midfield reinforcements high on their agenda, the coming weeks could see significant developments in the young midfielder’s career.
