Lazio manager Marco Baroni has revealed that Nigerian international Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has not yet fully recovered from an ankle injury, casting doubt over his availability for the Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen.
Lingering Fitness Concerns
Dele-Bashiru sustained the injury during last month’s goalless draw against Venezia, forcing him to miss three consecutive matches.
Although he returned to the bench in Lazio’s 1-1 home draw against Udinese, Baroni confirmed that the midfielder is still experiencing discomfort.
“Dele is still feeling a little discomfort. I have to talk to him because I want him to be calm when he goes out on the pitch.
He still has pain in his ankle,” Baroni stated during a press conference ahead of the crucial Europa League round of 16 second leg.
Key Player in European Campaign
The 23-year-old has played an important role for Lazio in the Europa League this season, contributing two goals and two assists.
His attacking presence could be vital as the Italian side looks to build on their 2-1 first-leg victory over Viktoria Plzen.
With Lazio aiming to progress to the quarter-finals, Baroni will have to assess whether Dele-Bashiru is fit enough to feature or if a more cautious approach is required to ensure his full recovery.
