Lawrence Setordjie: Ghanaian Accra Lions midfielder linked with Frankfurt move in Bundesliga swoop
Frankfurt are weighing up a move for Ghanaian attacking midfielder Lawrence Setordjie, 18, currently on the books at Accra Lions. The Bundesliga club are monitoring the teenager as they assess options to strengthen their attacking midfield department ahead of the new campaign.
Setordjie, who wears the No 10 shirt for Accra Lions, has emerged as a regular in the Ghana Premier League side’s first team, featuring 27 times in the top flight with one goal and three assists. His exposure to senior football at a young age has drawn interest from abroad, with Frankfurt now understood to be among the clubs tracking his development.
Born in Adidome and standing at 1.68m, Setordjie operates primarily as an attacking midfielder and is right footed. He stepped up from Accra Lions’ U17 set-up to the senior side in May 2024 and has since accumulated more than 1,300 minutes of league action, underlining the club’s willingness to trust him in competitive fixtures.
Accra Lions are regarded as a club open to developing and moving on talent to Europe, and Setordjie’s rise into their first team has placed him on the radar of recruiters in Germany’s top flight. His highest recorded market valuation to date stands at €100,000, a figure likely to be reassessed should formal talks progress.
For now, Setordjie remains under contract at Accra Lions, where he is established in the first-team squad as the club prepare for the forthcoming season, while Frankfurt continue to assess whether to turn their interest into a concrete offer.
