Laurenzo Monteiro: Franco-Cape Verdean defender joins Hyeres 83 on free transfer

French-Cape Verdean centre-back Laurenzo Monteiro has joined Hyeres 83 on a free transfer from Nice Espoir.

The 22-year-old switches to the National 1 Group C side after leaving the youth and reserve set-up at Nice, where he has been developing his game as a central defender. The move gives Monteiro his first opportunity to establish himself in senior football at a club competing in the French third tier.

Monteiro, who holds both French and Cape Verdean nationality, is primarily a centre-back and arrives at Hyeres 83 with experience from a professional environment at Nice Espoir. His move comes ahead of the new National 1 campaign, with Hyeres 83 looking to strengthen their defensive options before the season begins.
