Laurent Blanc expressed mixed emotions despite PSG clinching their second consecutive French championship title under his leadership. While he was undoubtedly happy about the achievement, he also felt the need to address misconceptions and criticisms directed at him.
Blanc lamented the tendency for people to speak without full knowledge, attributing it to jealousy. He emphasized that coaching involves much more than just managing the team on the pitch, highlighting the importance of delegation and the myriad responsibilities coaches handle off the field.
He refuted the notion that PSG’s success was solely due to the team’s talent, stressing the importance of earning points, implementing a playing philosophy, and convincing players. Blanc emphasized that being PSG’s coach entails more than simply selecting the starting eleven; it requires strategic planning and management throughout the season.
Blanc also challenged the perception that PSG’s season should be judged solely on their performance in the Champions League, urging people to consider the team’s consistency and achievements across the entire season. He expressed frustration with the tendency to devalue the domestic title if PSG falls short in European competitions.
Despite these challenges, Blanc indicated his willingness to continue as PSG’s coach, with the support of the club’s president, at least for the time being.
