Portugal and Cape Verde defensive midfielder Laton has joined Cypriot side PAEEK Kyrenia after a spell without a club.

The 27-year-old has signed a deal running until 31 May 2027 with the Second Division club, ending six months as a free agent following his departure from Lithuanian outfit Banga in January 2026.

Laton, born in Lisbon and standing at 1.85m, operates primarily as a holding midfielder and is right-footed. He arrives in Cyprus with experience across several European leagues, including stints in Portugal, Spain, Malta and Lithuania.

He most recently played for Banga, having moved there in June 2025 on a free transfer from Maltese side Naxxar Lions. Before that, he had switched clubs frequently, joining Naxxar from Birkirkara in January 2025, after an earlier move from Portuguese side 1o Dezembro in the summer of 2024.

Earlier in his career, Laton featured in Portugals lower tiers for Estrela Amadora, Varzim and Coimbra, and also had a spell in Spain with AD Alcorcons B team following his development at Chaves. His senior career has been built largely on free transfers, with clubs repeatedly turning to him to add depth and steel in midfield.

Across domestic league and cup competitions, Laton has accumulated more than 80 senior appearances, contributing goals and assists primarily in Portuguese and Maltese tournaments, as well as minutes in European qualifying action.

Latons contract ties him to PAEEK Kyrenia until the end of the 2026-27 campaign, confirming his latest move in a well-travelled career.
